If the scholars were asked to name the most refined soul in the Archives, the title would belong neither to the Twin Mavens nor the Ten Sages, but to the little dog, Prodigy.\nProdigy boasts a coat as black as ink and a sleek, graceful frame, as though it were tailored into the scholarly robes of the Inkbound Order. When someone offers a formal bow, it raises a front paw and mimics the salute. When someone recites poetry, it listens quietly, blinking now and then as if it understands every word. Once, when an elderly master coughed, Prodigy picked up its own water bowl and gently set it down by the master's feet.\nStunned for a moment, the old master patted its head and chuckled, "Most polite of you, little one." Prodigy merely gave a gentle wag of its tail, keeping its dignified composure.\nYet not long ago, a band of martial ruffians barged in to challenge the Twin Mavens, throwing the academy into chaos. Gentle as Prodigy was, the scholar within it was stirred to fury. The usually placid hound bared its teeth and let out a fierce roar, driving off the entire mob on its own.\nEveryone smiled with pride, remarking that Prodigy was now a true Inkbound Order dog. After all, is a hound's fierce bark not its own form of eloquence?
