Do it again and you'll get a smack."\n"Oh, look at you, you little roly-poly. You must've been rolling around somewhere, all covered in mud... And where did these cake crumbs come from? Pestering the guests for treats again, were you?"\nMother scolds away, her hands never stopping. Rollie pretends not to understand and shakes off the water. Mother pats her little head, muttering, "No, no, you're eating too much, you'll make yourself sick! Ugh, I really must have a word with that (dog teahouse owner). One more time and my Rollie won't be going there again..."\nRollie hears that and nuzzles her head, still dripping with water, against Mother: no, no, Rollie wants to go! Mother goes off to work in the mornings, and big sister goes to school. There's nobody to keep Rollie company. It's so lonely. But the guests' hands are warm. It feels safe there.\nMoonlight pools softly, flowing down like water. All that can be heard is the sound of Mother wringing out a handkerchief and the occasional grumble from Rollie, and a long while slips by.
