The immortal mountain stands within sight, a place where all radiance gathers.\nIt is told that this place was a site where men sought immortality. In ancient times, a Daoist declared: beyond the sea lie three mountains, where immortals dwell and hold within them the medicine of undying life.\nFor a thousand years, kings, lords, generals, and ministers all vied to send envoys, praying into the sky, sailing into the sea to beseech the medicine. Yet those who departed did not return, and those who returned spoke not a word.\nAs the years wore on, wild grass crept across the paths, and broken steles lay fallen on their sides. The old tales still lingered in the ear, yet the traces of passersby had long since vanished from the road.\nOne day, Feng Dao came walking to this place. He stood amid the overgrown weeds, gazed up at the faint and distant shapes beyond the clouds, and after a long while sighed: "The immortal mountain stands within sight." The disciples who accompanied him exchanged bewildered glances, none able to find the meaning of his words. Feng Dao clapped his hands, resolved then and there to build a bridge across the sea.\nThe company waded through raging waves and parted the heavy clouds. And there, sure enough, the mountains rose in towering majesty, sudden and unmistakable before their eyes.
