Legend says that in Zhongnan Mountains lived a nameless Daoist with exceptional insight but a love for food, especially the freshness of fish, which he enjoyed for over a decade without tiring. When advised that eating meat hindered cultivation, the Daoist smiled and said, "I eat fish to cultivate with them, so that one day we may ascend to the immortal realm together." As the Daoist grew old and frail, he had a dream where a mountain spirit appeared, rebuking him for favoring only fish for immortality. Upon waking, the Daoist entered the mountains, gathered all the immortal herbs from his dream, and cooked them with fish soup, creating an extraordinary fragrance.
