A few years back, Captain Bao saved a dog and named him Ocean. Ocean couldn't swim. Somehow he ended up falling into the water, all four legs thrashing helplessly, until Captain Bao pulled him out. Bao meant to leave it at that, but when he turned to go, Ocean whimpered so pitifully that it struck something deep in his heart. Captain Bao said, "I'll walk three steps—no, five. If you keep up, I'll take you in." No sooner were the words out than he met Ocean's damp, pleading eyes.\nCaptain Bao's days used to be a still pool of water. Within that water, he had watched countless men scramble after fame and fortune, trying to ride the waves, while all he wanted was a simple, honest life. Later, when he saw Ocean cowering behind him, frightened by the tide, Captain Bao came to realize: no measure of fame or fortune could ever outweigh the joyful wag of Ocean's tail.
