A few days ago, some villagers told me about strange ghostly lights drifting through the woods in the middle of the night, with noises that sounded almost human. Everyone else was convinced the place was haunted. I wasn't buying it. Someone had to be pulling tricks in the dark.\nSo I staked out the forest and stayed there for two full days. At night, the mountain wind was bitterly cold and gave me a pounding headache. Once I ran out of dry rations, I had to fill my stomach with wild fruit. On top of that, quite a few macaques decided I was there to steal their turf and kept lobbing stones at me. Still, the thought of cracking a big case kept me going, so I gritted my teeth and endured it all. But guess what?\nWhen I finally caught up to the "ghostly light" and got a good look at it, it turned out to be two Mohist disciples doing some sort of lighting experiment... And just like that, my big case was gone.\nOn the way back, I ran into Auntie Xu. She took one look at me, covered in bits of grass and looking thoroughly miserable, and laughed as she stuffed a few boiled eggs into my hands. Well... I may not have cracked the big case after all, but no one was hurt, and the ghost rumors were put to rest. So I suppose that's a good thing. Yes... a good thing.
