Secret Report Letter from the Min Region\nDispatched to the Min region, I passed through Quanzhou, only to be stripped of every last coin by petty thieves.\nFollowing the demise of Liu Congxiao, turmoil has consumed the political landscape, leaving the Guilds to wither and decay. Finding no scribe work to peddle my scholarly skills, I am left ravenous and destitute.\nRelying on the raw vigor of my youth, I took on grueling labor at the docks. Hauling heavy sacks, moving fish baskets and dragging rough cables, I bled my sweat for thirty coins a day, surviving only on a meager gruel of coarse rice and yams.\nMerely days later, staging a sudden coup, Chen Hongjin imprisoned his former lord in a secluded chamber.\nAs fate would have it, my dockmaster—a former general of the Liu clan—was clapped in irons and thrown into the dungeons. Severed from my hard-earned wages, I was cast into the streets once more.\nSheltering within a ruined temple outside the city, I now brawl with beggars for a bed of rotting straw. Through this misery, I have discovered that steamed taro offers sustenance, silencing the pangs of hunger for a full day.\nScoured bare by the desperate masses, the nearby earth yields nothing. One must trek twenty miles just to forage a single handful of wild bracken and shepherd's purse.\nMy Master! Fearing not the torment of hardship, I must confess that this treacherous land of Min has become a den of vipers. I beseech you, dispatch an envoy to extract me at once! I am starving! Hurry! Quickly!
