【Insects】\n\n【Butterfly】\n\nTwo Poems on the Qujiang River: The Second\nDu Fu\nReturning from court each day, I pawn my spring clothes;\nDaily by the river's edge, I return drunk to the full.\nWine debts are common wherever I go;\nTo live to seventy is rare since ancient times.\nButterflies flit deep among the flowers, seen clearly;\nDragonflies touch the water lightly, flying leisurely.\nI send word to the scenery to linger together;\nFor a while, let us enjoy each other, do not part.\n\nAutumn Butterfly\nBai Juyi\nAutumn flowers, a hazy purple;\nAutumn butterflies, a downy yellow.\nFlowers droop, butterflies are new and small;\nFlying and playing, west and east among the thickets.\nAs dusk falls, the cool breeze comes;\nFlowers fall in profusion upon the thickets.\nDeep in the night, the white dew is cold;\nThe butterflies have already died within the thickets.\nBorn at dawn, dead by evening, all alike;\nEach kind follows its own nature.\nHave you not seen the thousand-year crane?\nIt often perches on the hundred-foot pine.\n\n【Bee】\n\nDrinking Alone\nDu Fu\nMy steps take me deep into the woods at dusk;\nI open the wine jar, late for drinking alone.\nLooking up, a bee clings to falling catkins;\nMarching ants climb a withered pear tree.\nMy shallow talent shames true hermits;\nIn secluded偏僻, I find my own joy.\nI never had the mind for high office;\nIt's not that I scorn the present age.\n\nSolitary Enjoyment in a Leisure Garden\nBai Juyi\nQuiet in the suburban garden past noon;\nWith clearing weather, the scenery turns fresh.\nRain adds color to the mountain's air;\nThe wind borrows the water's spirit.\nHow to pass the long day?\nRoaming alone, what is dear to me?\nDivine birds befriend the gentleman;\nFragrant trees lean against the fair lady.\nAnts battle, kings fight for meat;\nSnails move, their homes follow their bodies.\nPaired butterflies know they are a couple;\nDivided bees show their ruler and subjects.\nThough their wriggling forms are small,\nTheir carefree natures are all equal.\nWho knows how many specks of dust\nLie between the Roc and the quail?\n\nBee\nLi Shangyin\nThe small garden, splendid pond, brilliantly connect;\nThoughts are endless by the back door, the front threshold.\nConsort Mi's slender waist barely胜过 the dew;\nEmpress Zhao, body light, wishes to lean on the wind.\nThe red wall is silent, cliff honey exhausted;\nThe blue curtain stretches far, the misty nest is empty.\nGreen Mound's powder butterflies, cease your parting grief;\nWe are fated to meet again in the second month.\n\n【Silkworm】\n\nHearing Orioles at Baitian While on Horseback\nLi Bai\nOrioles peck purple mulberries,\nIn May they sing on mulberry branches.\nMy journey's days I do not mark,\nMistaking it for springtime.\nThe silkworms are old, the traveler未 returns;\nAt Baitian, silk is already reeled.\nDriving my horse onward again,\nI touch my heart,空自 sorrow.\n\n【Cicada】\n\nCicada\nYu Shinan\nDrooping tassels drink the clear dew;\nThe flowing sound emerges from sparse paulownia.\nHigh perch, the voice carries far of itself;\nIt is not by relying on the autumn wind.\n\nChanting on the Cicada While in Prison\nLuo Binwang\nThe western陆 cicada's song resounds;\nThe southern冠 prisoner's thoughts run deep.\nI cannot bear this dark-temple shadow,\nComing to face my white-haired chant.\nHeavy dew, hard to fly forward;\nMuch wind, the sound easily sinks.\nNo one believes in lofty purity;\nWho will speak for my heart?\n\nCicada\nLi Shangyin\nOriginally, because of height, it's hard to be full;\nIn vain, it resents wasting its voice.\nBy the fifth watch,稀疏, about to break;\nA tree of碧 green, heartless.\nA petty official, my life still drifts;\nMy old garden's weeds are already leveled.\nThank you, sir, for most warning me;\nI too, with my whole household, am清 poor.
