I am only a common man. To fear death and cling to life is human nature. Yet, I never should have... (text burned away) ...so blindly sought immortality.\nThe agony of the cocoon is beyond words. Flesh is stripped away, and bones and sinews shatter inch by inch. Worse still, the new body is like dead ashes rekindled, rotted at its core. It ages and withers several times faster than a normal man. In just a few short years, I must endure the torment of being skinned and reforged all over again.\nHad I known what this would feel like... no matter how much I feared death...\nI made up the "Silkworm Mother" to keep the believers in line. But after repeating the lie a thousand times, sitting here alone in the dark... I can no longer tell truth from fiction.\nIf the Silkworm Mother is truly watching... if she is real...\nForgive my wretched greed...
